Haiti, we sorry eh, but…
![]() |
Hear what nah, I know things real bad and thing. The global economic crisis/meldown (whichever panic-inducing word you would prefer to insert there) have we all feeling a little down. But when the best assistance we as a country can do for Haiti is to match Brangelina’s gift, that REAL embarrassing. Seriously, man.
I know that we probably do give assistance to Haiti all the time eh, I understand that. But now them fellas need it more than ever. Tell me we could do better than $1 million US. Tell me that we can do better than Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie.
It was left to Jack Warner to point out the inadequacy of the PM’s offer. How could the most devastated region in one of the richest country in the world get 10 times as much as the most devastated region in perhaps the poorest nation on earth? It just doh make sense. It doh make sense how two American film stars can upstage us…and the thing is Haiti is we friend.
Did we give New Orleans $10 million because we could have afforded it more easily back then or did the lavishness of the gift have more to do with currying favour with the United States Government? I don’t know the answer to this but it makes you wonder. Haiti can’t do us any favours, it’s not a member of any of the exclusive clubs we’ve been dying to get into, it probably won’t come into a great deal of wealth…ever. So a $10 million reminder that we were there for them in their hour of need is probably wasted on Haiti.
So Haiti, we sorry eh, but you doh have nothing for we.
EDIT: I forgot to add this in. You can donate to the relief efforts yourself through Digicel. Text HELP to 5151 to donate. Texts cost $3 each and every dollar goes to the Haitian Relief efforts. Get more information here.

Wow, welcome back and so true. Guess he didn’t want to dip into the Red House and PM’s house funds too deeply….

Hi there. You caught my attention with a murder blogspot you did although I can’t remember what year you did it for. Will you be doing one for 2010? Thanks for your time and I appreciate all you’re doing.

Hi Randal, thanks for your compliments. I can’t remember which post you are referring to though. Are you talking about the one where I created a bar graph out of the murder stats for each year?

Hi – you can also donate by texting “HAITI” to 4483 (GIVE) to donate $10.00 to the Medianet and Red Cross Haiti Relief Funds.
Supported by Bmobile, Teleios Systems and the CCN Group.

No. There was a murder blogspot. EVERY murder was talked about with some details given. I saw it but now I’m not sure if you did it or if someone else did it and you just linked to it.

Nah, that wasn’t me. Actually there was a blog like that that chronicled each murder and then at the end of the year I think that it did a round up of all the murders. I believe that the blogger deleted the blog though.

Mani, is you? Long time no see! How things man? Welcome back!
Re: Haiti, yeah, it is embarrassing that two film stars gave more than we did, but then aren’t Caricom troops/personnel essentially observers in Haiti right now? The US running the show, not so?
And another thing, who’s monitoring and auditing all these donations and pledges to help rebuild Haiti anyway? Is there transparency and accountability? I wouldn’t want that money to fall in the wrong hands.
