Don’t call it a Comeback…
Seriously, don’t call this a comeback.
The Fat Solo is back! Coming soon to a beach lime near you.
I can’t even remember the last time I saw one of these on grocery shelves, but it looks like Solo Beverages Limited has brought these back at least for nostalgia’s sake. Everyone knows the Fat Solo bottle is the fine china of the soft drink world. There is no better delivery method for your sugar/CO2 mix than the thick glass of this bottle.
The classic Solo flavour is still there, but the bottle is not there completely. Yes it’s kind of the same. The bottle is still stamped with the logo, but the original label was painted on and this new label is plastic. Yuck. Who knows why it was changed, but the experience is just not the same. I’m thinking if you’re not going to go all the way, why even bother. At the very least we don’t need more plastic in the environment. Maybe the good folks at Solo had a reason for changing from paint to plastic. Who knows? I for one am happy to see the Fat Bottle make it’s comeback.
But, yeah don’t call it a comeback.

OMG …. what a coincidence …. I saw these at a function I attended yesterday …. and I asked the host where he got them …. he told me they’re new da scene …. so yeah …. solo’s back in de bottle …. still kinda looks like the old bottle too …. except the old bottle had some kinda embossed crap on it …. but WOW …. it really brought back memories or “roti and a red solo” …. I still like Chubby tho ….

Yeah Bandwagonist, but oh gosh boy, they kill meh enthusiasm with the pastic label.wuzdescene, gyul, I was real sock to see them on the grocery store shelf. But the embossed crap still there yuh know. If you look hard you can see it above the label. Gyul, that takes me back a loooong time when me and my family would go to the beach on a Sunday and we’d shove a case of empties in the back and take them to the store.Chubby made me proud once when I saw them selling in a Walmart in Oklahoma. But then the next time I went looking for them they were swapped for some cheap lookalike.

but during fasting month last year, ibn did their go to the masjid to break fast and at one of the masjids…they had solo…lots of it (these i guess? i dunno)…so it’s been around since last year?
the host was astonished too

But that is the thing, like all I seeing is banana on the shelves. I thought it was jut my luck. You seeing any other flavours? I should make a Facebook group as an ode to the Fat Solo.

i finally see one in real… in a drain… banana too… and yes MANI… I was disappointed… the plastic really look too plasticky… especially when I really remember the nostalgia of the screened on paint job… but once it tasting like SOLO I GTG…

Dre, I think I remember the 1L bottles, but I’m not sure since I’m not really a Lucozade drinker….but yes I remember the 1L Pepsis very well.
Bandwagonist, daiz what ah telling yuh boy, yuh must trust yuh bredren…the plastic label makes it look a little cheap. But it tasting good, so I guess it ok. Maybe they’ll rethink the plastic but I doubt it.

Wuzdescene, iz a conspiracy. You could believe for a moment that The Eagles will play a reunion concert and not play “Hotel California? I doh believe Solo will do we that. A red solo must come out. By the way, I think the white one is probably cream soda. Plus could the dark one be grape? I didn’t think Solo made a cola….I think they had a licence for RC Cola, but I never knew them to make their own brand. I could be wrong though.
