Tobago, I’m Sorry

Written on March 3, 2008 – 3:53 pm | by Mani |

I‘m not sure how many of you got a chance to catch the Stanford 20/20 final on Sunday night, but the game was great. I just wish the West Indies could play like that sometimes. Hats off to all the Jamaicans for reaching the final, but something went woefully wrong with their game. I can’t remember the last time I saw any cricket team collapse like that.

Congratulations to the guys and all, but I just wanted to say that I find it incredibly interesting that they left Tobago off the cheque. How in the world could they let that happen? No wonder Tobago feels left out.

I have to apologise for the quality of the picture, but I had to snap a photo of the TV since the early demise of my TV card many months ago.

I remember the venerable Dr Carrington in UWI being very impressed when someone put on their registration form: Citizen - Trinidad AND Tobago. He, being PROUD Tobgonian, wanted to meet the student, who out of ALL the others (apparently) who only put “Trinidad” on their forms. He made mention of in it one of his lectures that Tobago was always left out of forms because of the limited space and that to him making the effort to do it properly made an impression.

or he could have been talking about something else. . .I can’t remember. . . UWI was so long ago! lol

our own immigration forms don’t always have enough room for “Trinidad and Tobago”. I either squeeze it in anyway, or abbreviate. And my nationality, according to my passport, that most official document evincing nationality, says “Citizen of Trinidad and Tobago” and so that’s what I use. Not Trinidadian. I am not Tobagonian, but I feel for the omissions.
