The Date Draweth Nigh
| Roadside Plea |
Oh gosh allyuh, no ah hear. No Toronto Trini, ah not busy on any “campain” trail (as Afro Chic put it). (1) I’m a little busy (2) I fed up of this elections (3) I fed up of politicians (3) My internet has been acting up. So in all I was a little busy and I wasn’t trying that hard to make time to blog.
As I said I’m tired of all the politics and I can’t wait for this election to be over. I also tired of the constant noise I have to undergo on what seems to be an hourly basis (that Afro Chic also mentioned). I’m tired of dodgy, evasive politicians and disingenuous talk show hosts. And Dr. Amery Brown’s grin and ugly moustache to that list - “I’m so overwhelmed by the response I’ve received from the people of Diego Martin Central. Everyone has been so warm towards me. I am so happy that Ken Valley has fully embraced my candidacy.” Oh give me a chance Dr. Brown, you are fighting a safe seat.
In other election news, guess what came in the mail for me 2 days ago?

Sorry I can’t bring you photos from inside the booth - phones are illegal on the premises.
Who knows what’s going to happen on Monday? I’m trying not to be too concerned with what the polls say. I know what I have to do, and I plan on doing it. Whatever happens, happens. If the Congress of the People win, then great, if they lose, then at least I did what I thought was right.

I totally agree with Mani. I real sick of them damn elections, and I don’t even live in Trinidad! I left two years ago because of some of the issues you have spoken about, and figured that if I wanted my kids to have a good life, with equal opportunities as everyone else, i had to leave Trinidad. I think that Trinidad needs and deserves a break from maximum leaders, their corruption and bachannal! What T&T needs is sensible honest leadership, and I think that Dooks is the man to do it. Good luck on Monday.

i agree mani, people are saying that they support the COP but they’re not going to vote for them because they don’t want to split the votes…but i have to say that i dont want to settle for a mediocre government when we have the chance for change. Come on people, take this opportunity and do what you know is right. Even if the COP doesn’t win a seat, at the end of the day at least i know that i did what i could to make a difference…what would u say about yourself?

“Its time for a change if 294 murders for the year doh make we see dat then I eh know what else to tell allyuh”
Just imagine the ruling party could be so boldface to say “PNM is a way of life.” how insulting to educated and talented Trinis like us. I have news for you Mr. Manning the PNM does not own Trinidad…. we the people own it. I wish I was back in sweet T&T to cast my vote for the COP because in this the darkest of nights for our fair land we need to wake up from this bad nightmare we need a change. Good luck Dooks and God speed.

Oh loss, Anonymous, if you fed up and you not even living in Trinidad, you could understand how we feel. We definitely do need a break from maximum leaders, hopefully enough people agree. Thanks for commenting. By the way, you can choose “Other” and select a name.
Girlblue, lol. May I cut in?
Anonymous 4:35, I agree with you wholeheartedly and I think you said something very important there. We must not settle for a mediocre government. We should do what we know to be right and let the chips fall where they may.

Ray G, you must be wrong since the Emperor has explicitly declared that crime is not an election issue. Housing is a bigger issue than crime. I suggest you apologise profusely to the emperor and say 10 “Great is the PNM, It shall prevail”. I hereby absolve you of your insubordination.

Mani you could cut in anytime lol
But seriously Trinidad is so ripe for a change its not funny. I who love my country so much have considered leaving time and again. Housing has more to do with elections than crime? The man is a backside! All of them are a bad joke. Vote them out! There is only so much people could take.

AN OPEN LETTER TO BASDEO PANDAY
Good day Mr. Panday,
I wish for you to consider me as an Opposition Senator.
I have lot’s to say on Agriculture in my northwest Trinidad accent. For example: “nice rally on Saahhhturday”.
If the accent is too irritating, I can easily switch to Mandarin Chinese.
I must tell you how sorry I am for saying that your comments on election night were inappropriate.
It’s just a natural reaction by people like me to people like you - you being the descendant of indentured peasants and all. I lime with white people down de islands, we know what manners is.
In any event, you and I are similar. We can both hold ourselves out as educated elites and ride the backs of dem Indians straight into government in 2012.
I could be Minister of Agriculture! Imagine the possibilities! What better than me, a person who does not give a fig for rural peasant farmers, to convince them to sell their lands to Derek Chin and my other family for them to build Movie Townes and Price Smarts.
Soon all of central will look like Westmoorings.
I look forward to your call. Oh, by the way, forget Gillian - you want a rainbow Senate.
Regards,
Wendy
