Warner & Panday to Lead UNC Alliance
![]() |
I almost, almost posted last night that the UNC Alliance has chosen Jack Warner as their political leader. Last night C’s late news reported that Jack Warner had been chosen, but it was not an official press release, so I decided to hold back on that post till I heard something definite.
This morning I visit the online Newsday only to see splashed over the front page that Jack Warner and Basdeo Panday have both been chosen to lead the UNC Alliance…that is, until the election is over, which should the UNC be victorious, they will then have another meeting on November 6th where they’ll choose who becomes Prime Minister. Said Panday, “In those circumstances, that is the best time in which to determine who will be the prime minister after the elections is won and we know who is there”.
Folks! Coming to a theater near you on November 6th, “The Basdeo Surprise”. Maybe Warner will also take the opportunity on November 6th to choose his new nickname, Austin “Trojan Horse” Warner.
Is this some kind of joke? I’m more than a little confused here. So what’s the point of choosing a leader now? Why not wait till the elections are over? I have to wonder if this is a ploy to pull the wool over the eyes of the electorate.
From the Newsday:
Panday said his “partnership” with Warner, who will lead the Alliance into the election, will unite the country’s African and Indian voters who have been traditionally divided along racial and political lines.

Bas figure by putting Jack @ the helm Cadiz doesn’t leave… but all who from the UNC have categorically stated that they wanted BAS… and most of the Alliance wanted Kamla…
just remmeber that Jack is just leader for the election… he isn’t the Prime Minister… yet
Kamla in d Guardian “The Council has made a statement of which I’m a member.”

Bandwagonist, well that is what I know. They people who are still in the UNC are there because of Bas, so I’m not sure what this Warner hing is all about.
By the way will Warner be ready to quit FIFA? What happens when FIFA tells Warner, “Look breds, you are either one or the other, but you can’t be both”? What happens then? I know that FIFA has stated that a country’s government cannot interfere in the running of FIFA’s member organisations. So I wonder how that’s going to go over at the next meeting.

Mani boy these fellas have to be in some deal with Manning so that the PNM wins the election. The last statement you highlighted is the one that confirms to me they are both out of their minds. Let’s say Jack was serious about “healing” this political divide between the two races, then exactly which race is he bringing to the table? Kamla has more support in the African community than he does. She’s the one with ties to the Spiritual Baptist community and she can influence the female vote.
On the brighter side of this I hope Kamla and those still sitting on the fence (yes as of this morning she is a fence sitter that was a low blow she got)take this dual leadership as the deciding factor to move over to COP. Let Dooks embrace her and champion her ala “Hilary/Oprah/Hulsie style”. She can stick it to Bas and bring the the votes needed to oust the PNM.
For the first time Valley is doing something positive he’s distracting the PNM so time for COP to use this to their advantage.

boysie… u hold some of the same sentiments i have… i waiting to see Kamla walk out on d Stage Saturday in Sando…
Kams was the only reason i was even thinking UNC… my mind made up long time now but I still have belief that she would realise that its a lost cause… she was a better AG dan Ramesh

So lets see here…it was
Bas and Robbie
Bas and Ramesh
Bas and Dooks
Bas and Kamla
Bas and Jack
I may have missed someone somewhere but forgive me I left T&T 20 years ago but have always wanted to retire back HOME…and have always followed the political situation but I am wondering how the electorate is seeing this…to me this is just another temporary band aid to try and beat the PNM..remember everytime there is a Bas and somebody…somebody gets kicked in the ass when the time is right.
Dooks and Kamla sounds good to me..and I know with this combination nobody will get kicked off the island.. Go for it Kamla.

The only difference between the 1996 NAR and what Panday is trying doing now is that before the election then..it was agreed that Robbie would be prime minister if the NAR wins. And what happened after that?? Robbie kicked Panday out after using him and the Indian population to win the election. In this case I would guarantee that is exactly what Panday has under that red beret… ‘IF’ the UNC Alliance wins this election Jack is going to be red carded.

Seems all the stars are aligning for the COP…how could anyone view this as anything but a big Fart in the breeze? Meanwhile PNM and Manning disrespecting their now disenchanted supporters more and more by the day. Only a total fanatic blind to the realities facing us would vote for the PNM…and now I can’t even figure out how to describe any remaining demographic that the UNC is sure to attract! I’m definitely not skipping Skinner Park tomorrow and I’ll be voting for the first time ever!

Sorry in my last comment it should have been ‘1986 NAR’…..

if we are to listen to what Mr. Valley said outside Baliser House this evening, we most definitely don’t ant to see Mr. Dr. Manning reign as PM again…
Valley all but said outright that we in for pressure… he an all doh know if he going Woodford Square…
the philosophy of Bas is to simply get rid of the PNM in government… which doesn’t bode well for T&T because we need a leader to set us straight… re-develop the economy away from oil and gas… but the Pandayites (Steve Alvarez included) don’t seem to understand this…
the UNC Alliance even using the term ‘New Politics’ to describe what they are doing… even tho they bring nothing new to the table…

Just so the message is not lost in the rant.
I am saying that to many people, this blogger cannot possibly be so influential (and be a “normal person” at the same time).
It has to be someone “famous”.

Kamla is suffering from battered wife syndrome. She taking licks from de man everyday and when he come home she putting ‘im to sit in de hammick, take off he shoes and socks and then bringing hot food for de bastard to eat.
Ramesh is a washed up wannabe. Let’s see, his claim to fame: Somehow he knew to take his family to safety in Grenada during the coup of 1990. He caused Panday’s government to fall by selling out to Manning in the “Done deal”, and in doing so betrayed the dreams of all the jahagi bhais and bahins who had never lived to see the day of and Indian PM. Now the arch neemakaram wants to play saviour, but pulled it (A healthy Indo -Trinidadian self image) away from us when we had it.
Now Panday, the abusive husband who believes we are all idiots who worship him as some kinda god. He is the most divisive person in local politics and tries to hide it by preaching unity. Unity my foot! Not with Panday! He is a power hungry old man who has now lost the opportunity to save his legacy. He will be remembered as a desperate loser.
Jack, well he make his money all ready, so all he needs now is some added prestige to round off his life (Maslow’s hierarchy of needs), so ah lil position like President of TnT will suit him just fine, that is why he will not contest a seat in this election.

Mani I’ve been informed that Kamla’s decision to support the partnership stems from her being offered the chance to become the country’s first female president. Seems like her “ten days wuk” as prime minister continues to let her trust in Bas. Oh well that’s one step back for all the female indian UWI graduates content to hang their degrees on their bedroom walls while they sit at home and make roti. (Sorry for the rant but I’m really upset).
Additionally there was bound to be a pro-UNC, anti-COP blog and I’ve found it and no it’s not Anand I’m guessing it’s Sadro from 106fm (including identity only because these days Mani is being touted as Nirad hahaha). triniblag check it out and try not to post eventually he’ll stop when he continues to get zero feedback.
