Applying for a New Birth Certificate

Written on August 9, 2007 – 12:50 pm | by Mani |

The Government has been advertising for people to come apply for ther new computer-generated birth certificates. So I decide why not. I only have one copy and sooner or later it’s bound to start ripping apart at the creases.

Now I think I’m someone of at least average intelligence, but for the life of me I can’t figure out how to answer this question (the one with the red asterisk).

Application form for a T&T Birth Certificate

Why does anyone need a birth certificate?

Wait till you have to wait in line to hand in the form. It will take you all day. Do you realise that people wait in line all day to simply hand in a form and get a receipt to come back another day? How backward and stupid is that.
It’s quite simple to work out a more efficient solution but that would require too much work I bet so they would prefer to let you suffer.

I keep aksing the same question? Obvisouly, I was born. Anyhow, I put ID as the purpose.

Actually, I had a positive experience with them. I dropped in my application, you know, just drop it in the box. I was told that they mail it to you in seven days. I was very apprehensive, but lo and behold TTPost dropped it to me on time. I was most surprised.

“School registration”, a friend who did the line-up thing today would have written. If you don’t really have a reason for needing it right away, then you don’t really have a reason to put on the form. Ent?

And yes, the drop box system is possibly the simplest and most efficient process for anything public-facing in the Government Service right now.

I also had a very positive experience with the whole applying for a birth certificate process.

I filled out the form…including the stupid question, didn’t have to line up or anything. Just dropped off the application in the box, and I got my birth certificates hand delivered less than 7 days later.

I was in shock when I saw the TTPOst guy at my office.

Yeah I am going to do the drop box thing since everyone says it won’t take too long.

    Flippant, what’s a Cylon?
