Vital because depending on the type of communication you use on the web, you know which audience you’re reaching. For e.g., if you send an email of local “celebrities” in lewd or suggestive pictures, that will be emailed throughout T&T in one day to persons of all classes, income brackets etc. However, if you try viral marketing through pass it on emails, the reach may not be as great. Why, the majority of people on the Internet in T&T, especiallly young people, are interested in entertainment, as opposed to taking the time out to read something that isn’t purely entertainment. Plus, traditional media is still the core means to reach markets in T&T. I also think public relations practitioners have not yet taken notice of blogs because it’s a small percentage of the population blogging and reading blogs.

For me, demographic information confirms my view that it’s the middle class, educated people, and persons who have regular access and are interested on reading online who are onto blogs. In a country like T&T, I’d call bloggers, early adopters. In marketing terms, that means that you’re a leader, not a follower, so you pick up activities or start using products before they’re “cool” or the in thing, and in so doing influence others to start. I’m sure someone was influenced to blog by reading The Manicou Report, or perhaps it encouraged them!

Ed, boy, that site and that guy is a lost cause. I asked Kayode about that. He said he thought about it too, but only after the fact. I guess the web people over there just dropped the ball on this one.

TTfootball, well I don't think I focus on crime, I'm not sure Kayode meant it to sound like that. I think I more focus on politics, and maybe crime is a big part of that.

Yuh know I was thinking about doing a post in truth. Maybe next week. The last one I did was for January.

Do you think personally that you FOCUS on crime (i got that impression from the article) or just whatever’s going on? Its not like every one of your posts is crime-related.

Good article. I always enjoy when racists claim to be just "telling it like it is." It amazes me how people can claim to have courage when their attitudes are completely shaped by fear.
