I was born in Trinidad. Have been a Police Officer there. I have resided in the U.S. for the past 35 years. The moral level has gotten to such a low that i would be vary reluctant to advise anyone to visit.

"There is something rank in the nation of Trinidad and Tobago"

It was best said by George Orwell, "All animals are equal but some are more equal than others."

If you all would recall, there has been two exercises with regard to the selection of Police officers and there is a constant plea that qualified individuals are not seeking employment in this field.

This lie must end. I want to share the findings of an investigation I conducted. It was just by chance that I came upon these facts which I am about to relate.

A few persons whom I know, young individuals who were looking for a job all applied and went through the recruitment process for TTPS. All the brave young men and women made sacrifices to attend all of the stages and were told that they had passed each one and would move on to the final stage selection.

The final stage these individuals attended would be the agility held at the Police Barracks in St. James.
They are now to wait for selection confident that the system would provide them an opportunity. To their surprise there is an advertisement for those individuals interested in joining the police service to attend well the various locations. The individuals decided to call the barracks to enquire as to the status of their applications. To their surprise not one of them got accepted and they were told to re-apply the reason being that they failed the agility test. When they mentioned they were told that they were successful, the female police corporal informed them ," well I just say you all fail"

The COP keeps calling for qualified persons to apply all the persons to whom I make reference have at least five subjects and are currently pursing higher level education and are all of east Indian descent.

I ask you all:
Is this a coincidence?

Could ethnic cleansing also be taking place in the Police service?

Have we reached a stage in Trinidad and Tobago where every creed and race do not find an equal place?

I'm responding to your situation about five months after you posted it, anyway as I have come to realize and most if not all know it is that the police in TT do not serve the public, they generally serve themselves.
The police is also a reflection of the society/community, sorry to say but by observation most citizens of TT are about themselves, without regard to those that they have to interact with, look at the average driver...courtesy is forgotten, crimes have no witnesses, children and elderly continue to be abuse, no one steps up? keep waiting for the gov't to do something...the gov't is you...and I

Hi Everyone I need advise.
Today i was confronted by two Police women...Let refer them as mammy and daughter Snaggs attach to chagunas. At Papa John Pizza in Chaguanas ..."Daughter" came out a PCE 769 vehicle PARKED IN FRONT OF AN Entrance...I was exiting at the same and called out to her to let her know that I and then another person wanting to leave...She the "daughter" continue to proceed ignoring us!!!!!..The other person still hail out to her...she refused to move her vehicle.....In haste and already waiting so long for a pizza and then to get this!!!....I said "this is jackassness"........

Well welll now the "daughter" at one point whom I really thought must be "DEAF" can suddenly hear!!!!!....to ups and say "who say that" well am I not in my rights to refuse weither i said that or not?????The mammy said that the daughter cannot drive and she (daughter) is going to call the driver?????

Now the Mammy just to remind you ...they were dressed in plain clothes and were definately not on a "RAID"....Went about thier merry way .....with and illegal park and playing more bad.....Now which person will sit there and wait for these women to move (15mins).... YES....If i am to pay a ticket for coming out my car went in Pizza Place asked one person whom had came in if he was driving then and he said not him....Man I buss ah cuss!!!!! Yeah ah cuss to move the vehicle and tell them I am going to call the police!!!!

well is then Mammy go pull out barge to say she is the "police" and "play she calling the Chag. Police...I did dial 999 told the person what happening and by then which if i am to die well people i would have been dead before 999 unit can help!!!!!..."suddenly" the women who as now playing the part as POLICE want to LOCK ME UP!!!!!!....my husband whom is not a healthy person asked me to applogise...and to hear the now officers calling me name "GUYANESE" and mocking me more now with the strenght of thier barges!!!!! Discreminating my race and mind you i am married to a CREOLE!!!!!!!!

I did the citizen rights applogise and then to see "daughter" jump into the car and move it....take into mind the following of the officers....as follows:-

1)Breaking the Law
2)Lying to citizens
3)Discremating my race
3)Aggrivating and worsen the situation because they are SARGENT and OFFICER

I leave with this ....SHOULD I BECOME A POLICE TO ABUSE THE SYSTEM!!!!!!!!!!

Dear Mani,

I understand your concern and your reason for writing this article but you fail to realise that it is not the "Trinidad and Tobago Police Service that should be blamed but the PNM who are the ones insighting certain officers to use their power to keep the voice of a people done.

There are hundreds of Police Officers who are on our side and then there is the elite group who is "taken care" of by the party in power so they have nothing to be afraid of, they are ordered by the Prime Minister and his Ministers.

Just recently, my uncle went missing. That is Mr. Brian Lalla, the ex-policeman who went missing without a single trace on February 12th, 2008. He has not yet been found. When we went on several searches for my uncle, we called for police accompaniment. Many times we did that . Every time we asked for their accompaniment, their reply was either they had no vehicles, or they were shrt staff. Is it that they had no vehicles because some of the officers who were on duty at that time took the police vehicles and went on their own errands, or even by the various bars? Is it that they were short staff because the officers who were on duty that day went on their own business or they were rum sick from the night before, seeing that all most police officers are good for is to consume alcohol? They were never there to lend their support to my family. Everything that we did, we did it ourselves and also with the kind and courteous assistance of Mr. Inshan Ishmael. I'm really fed up now. Sonething definitely has to be done. People who have not been affected by crime would not know how it feels. They would not find it necessary to stand up. But when it comes knocking on their doors, it's only then they would realize that they should have stood up.

i would like to say that Trinidad's police service are a pack of cowards who use their uniform to feel big about themselves. Why is it that they can stop innocent drivers and make them pull off their car tints but they cant do ANYTHING to eradicate the crime in our country? You damn idiots! you fools! you cowards!

I would like some of you who are speaking so ill of our country's police officers to go for one 13 hour tour of duty and be exposed to the conditions that the police officers have to work under, and to have to deal with some of the illiterate behaviour that some of our better educated citizens display when coming to a station and then lets see how many stones any of you would bother cast at the few officers who genuinely try to assist the general public with thier problems. I am not saying that there are not officers who abuse their authority but there are some who genuinely try so why not give them some credit too?
